Whena dreamis fulfilled,a newone begins.

Susana Rodríguez was born with albinism and a severe visual impairment that limits her vision to less than 5% in one eye and 8% in the other, which is considered legal blindness. In 2009, Rodríguez graduated in physiotherapy in Vigo and in 2015 she graduated from the University of Santiago de Compostela in medicine, the year in which she began as a resident intern physician. She began her residency in 2016 in the Hospital Clínico de Santiago de Compostela, working as a resident intern of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Since childhood, she combines her dedication to sports with a passion for health sciences. In 1998, Rodríguez started to practice athletics with a teacher from the Spanish national Organization for the Blind. She participated in para athletics competitions until 2008, the year when she did not get a place in the Paralympic Games. After 2 years out of competition in 2010 she decided to try a new sport, triathlon, which in the upcoming future would bring her biggest achievements in sports. In 2016, Rodríguez competed in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with her guide Mabel Gallardo, finishing fifth in the individual triathlon event. She qualified to participate in the 2020 Summer Paralympics, being the first Spaniard to compete in two sports in the same edition of the Paralympic games: triathlon and athletics. Due to the covid 19 pandemic the event took place in 2021 and Susana became Triathlon Paralympic Champion on the PTVI category alongside Sara Loehr acting as her guide. Her long and condecorated sports career and her work at the Spanish National health System during hard times in 2020 took her image to the front cover of TIME magazine. As world ranked number 1 Susana is at the moment working hard towards new goals.
